Keep Yourselves

Jude 1:21
People tend to look for others to KEEP them. We sometimes seek someone else to look out for, guide, protect, and encourage us. This verse makes it clear who is to do the keeping. KEEP YOURSELVES...

At some point in life, Mom won't keep you and neither will Dad. Pastors, teachers, elders, deacons, biological or fraternity & sorority brothers or sisters, or even governments won't keep you IN THE LOVE OF GOD. In fact, you'll most often find that people will try hard to prevent you from the love of God by both overt and subtle behaviors.

Nonetheless, it is the responsibility of each individual Believer to “keep yourselves” in God’s love. That is not easy to do. It can be very, very challenging to
keep yourself in the love of God when people are being anything but godly. However, the help we have to keep ourselves in God’s love comes when we are continually “looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ” who is able to give us “eternal life”.

While we do not work for salvation, because salvation is a GIFT which is not obtained by works (“…saved by grace…not of works…” Ephesians 2:8,9 KJV), we do understand that there are great rewards and blessings for keeping
ourselves connected to and in fellowship with Creator God.
