Scripture: Come and Get It

If You Want It,
Come and Get It.

Anyone may freely read the words of Scripture. Nevertheless, there is a "best practice"-- a more effective way to benefit from the pages (or screens) of scriptural text. First, however, let's begin with what one should not do.

How NOT TO Approach Scripture if You're Trying to Go Deeper Than a Surface Reading:

Don't expect to know everything at once.

Don't try to bully of dare God to "show up" while expecting a flood of knowledge, wisdom, and blessings on demand.

Don't expect extreme supernatural manifestations such as the appearance of entities or instant healing.

How TO Come to God and Get Benefits from Scripture:

Approach Scripture by preparing yourself in humility and prayer. Settle yourself. Get quiet. Really listen.

Allot time to seek God with an open mind and heart, setting aside any previously held knowledge or beliefs. Remember, education does not always equate to spiritual growth or holiness.

Consider your personal lifestyle, attitudes, and habits. Keep any arrogance and impatience in check. Move within your own learning pace and pursue basics.

Honor God by obeying whatever you already understand of Scripture.

Avoid materialistic, profane, egotistical, and lustful influences from people. They inhibit your spiritual growth.

You don't have to pay for instructions, courses, or lessons. When you do, you often receive only what is designed purposefully for profit, as opposed to gaining inspiration and guidance directly from Great Spirit. The latter is altogether free of charge and is Spirit-tailored specifically for you. Trust that God knows and will grant what you need and how you need it.

May the very
God of peace
sanctify you wholly.
I pray to God that your whole
spirit, soul, and body
be preserved blameless unto
the coming
of the Lord Jesus Christ.
