Money & Positive Thinking

I came across another foolish positive thinking post:

Sometimes you have to hit
"no receipt"
at the ATM
because you don't need
that kind of negativity
in your life.

Hopefully, it was only meant to be humorous. Unfortunately, many people actually live their lives under that ridiculous cloud of anti-logic.

How will refusing to view a bank receipt change what is or is not in the bank account? It won't. I won't change the facts any more than wearing a hat will change your hair color.

Not seeing, not accepting, or even not knowing  won't change reality.

Hebrews 5:11-14
Of whom we have many things to say, and hard to be uttered, seeing ye are
dull of hearing.

For when for the time ye ought to be teachersye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as
have need of milk,
and not of strong meat.

For every one that useth milk is
unskilful in the word of righteousness:
for he is a babe.
But strong meat
belongeth to them that are of full age,
even those who by reason of use
have their senses exercised
to discern both good and evil.

The positive confession/positive thinking doctrine has saturated churches as well as the internet so much that many can't even be honest about their personal situations without being told not to be "negative".

Those who profess to know and love Messiah, especially those who are economically challenged, SHOULD know better than buying into positive thinking. If rightly-divided Scripture doesn't convince, one might suppose day-to-day reality would prompt questions and evaluation of such error-laden doctrine. If you have named and claimed wealth for years, but you're still barely making ends meet, shouldn't you look at what you're hearing and believing a little more closely?

Many won't. As the writer of Hebrews said, there are those who SHOULD be farther along as for doctrine. They should be ready for the meat, but are instead, like infants, still drinking milk. They keep putting money into some church basket in hopes of a rainfall money return for their pockets or purses.

Some won't hear correction because they are (Hebrews 5:11) "dull of hearing" and cannot (Hebrews 5:14) "discern both good and evil."

As an adult, no matter how positively you think, money will not just drop into your pocket, purse, or bank account unless you're doing something to get it there. If it does, someone is making a serious mistake which will eventually be discovered and corrected.

Even so, if you insist money comes from positive thinking, positive confessing, and positive speaking,  really put it to the test. The next time a Word of Faith proponent holds out a container for money in church, or asks for contributions online, tell them to name, claim, declare, decree, and speak whatever amount they want into existence. Meanwhile,  you keep your money and build your own wealth.
