In support of "positive confession", someone gave an example. They said they had a big job to do but the conditions were so terrible that they just didn't want to do the work. So they sat around grumbling. After a while, a guy came along and told everyone to get busy. He said he would even help. People eventually got up and started working. Finally the job was completed.
From that, they gave credit to "positive confession"! They proclaimed the work was made easier and even more fun because of positive confession. They couldn't understand that it wasn't positive or negative words that got the job done. It was just a matter of doing it!

People could complain the whole time, but as long as they did whatever was needed, the job would get done. Likewise, a person could smile, sing, and say all kinds of pleasant or "positive" words, but do nothing, and the job would never get done.
Humans can not make things happen just by speaking words or thinking about how much they may want those things to happen.
You know for a FACT that you will never earn a degree or increase your bank account merely by saying or believing it. It's just plain ridiculous to think you can do so. It's even worse to teach others to believe and practice such nonsense. It's wicked to say the Bible teaches that foolishness.

Of course it's unproductive to whine and complain, but that doesn't mean you can "name-and-claim" or "declare and decree" a solution either. So-called "positive" words won't get the job done any more than sitting and belly-aching!
Try the spirits (1 John 4:1). Test it out for yourself! Let's say you have a school report or a job assignment to do. See how much you'll accomplish by sitting down while speaking "positive" or "affirming" words.
Just sit there and WILL that the work gets accomplished. Say positive words over and over. Use the power of possibility thinking. Declare and decree them loudly, if you want to. Go on. Beat your drums and your chest. Use the power of your mind and the force of words from your mouth to "speak it into existence..."
The next day that load of work will still be there. The next week it will still be there. The work will remain undone until you, not speak it, but DO IT.

Try rearing children by "claiming" sterling good behavior, glowing academic grades, and mighty athletic prowess without ever TRAINING them to do anything.
While you're at it, name away poverty, classism, sexism, and so-called "racism" (though all humans are the same race), according to Scripture. Declare and Decree that there be no more injustice, illness, disease, or war. Name and claim your ideal career. No. Why should you work at all? Call that labor-intensive job as though it were a fully paid retirement plan. Oh, no. Don't work, just be positive and speak positive affirmations. Test it. Let's see what happens.
The issue is not positive or negative, but rather truth vs. error. That's the Scripture's standard. Often, the TRUTH may seem very "negative" because it doesn't cater to the flesh; it doesn't stroke the ego. While LIES, on the other hand, may appear "positive" because they are popular, well-accepted, and make people feel good.
It's baffling how people who are struggling financially, are barely getting bills paid, and are living paycheck to paycheck would dare to embrace such folly as "positive confession"! Then again, it is a STRONG delusion (2 Thessalonians 2:11AKJV) just for people who would rather believe what they WANT to believe rather than believing the truth.
You don't even have to be religious to know that nothing gets done unless someone does something.
Even as powerful as LOVE is, there has to be action. In fact, true love IS action, for what good is love in word only? (Matt. 15:8)
